Cumpà Italiano
The project

How Cumpà works and what data it stores

What it does

Create an outing, send the link to the group chat and collect attendance, dates, lifts, beds and things to bring on one page. Questions change with the occasion and with what you have already decided.

An organiser can edit or cancel the outing, close answers, add a co-organiser and reuse a previous outing.

What the group can see

Someone with only the link sees the title, date and time. After signing in with Google, they can see the place, participants and answers, and add their own. Share the link only in the group chat.

What is stored

The server stores outing details and answers: display name, attendance, availability, lifts, beds and things to bring. Cumpà stores no passwords and does not keep the email address received from Google.

This data is used only to show and coordinate the outing and to find it again on another device. The session lasts at most 180 days; signing out also removes the local name and personal preferences used to fill later answers more quickly.

If an organiser removes someone from the outing, their answer is deleted and the outing keeps only the displayed name and the day they were removed: that is what stops them rejoining on their own with the same account, and what lets an organiser let them back in. Only organisers and co-organisers see that line; it disappears when the person is let back in, and in any case when the outing is deleted.

The code a person appears under inside an outing is different in every outing: whoever reads the data of two different outings cannot tell that it is the same person.

How long it stays and how to delete it

Outings without a recent date or edit are automatically deleted after two years. Before then, each participant can delete their own answer from the outing page; the creator can delete the whole outing and every answer. These actions are permanent and say so before confirmation.

To request access, correction or deletion when you cannot do it from the page, use the form below and include the outing code. Do not put more personal data than necessary in the message.

External services

Google handles sign-in and may know that you opened the login page. Cloudflare hosts the site, database and endpoints, and uses Web Analytics to count page views and country. Group data is not sent to analytics.

The typefaces are Aldrich and Manrope, under the SIL Open Font License: they are served from this site, not from Google, and the licence sits next to them.

Report a problem

If an outing will not open, a count is wrong or wording is unclear, send a report.
